Maegan obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Memphis and worked as an adjunct professor prior to transitioning to a nursing career in 2014. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2014, and later went on to complete her Master’s in Nursing Education from the University of Memphis in 2022. She has a diverse background in patient care, education, and leadership roles.
Her nursing experience includes work in Labor and Delivery, Emergency Room, and Pediatric Hematology Oncology nursing. She began working for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in 2020 as an acute care nurse before transitioning to the role of Nursing Care Coordinator for General Hematology. In her time at St. Jude she has enjoyed serving on nursing shared governance, quality improvement committees, Magnet committees, and as a Peer Responder for the Resilience team. She cares deeply for the Hematology patient population and is passionate about improving patient outcomes, promoting equity, and building relationships with the families St. Jude serves.
Maegan is an active member of the Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Nurses professional organization, as well as the Greater Mid-South Chapter.
