Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
After graduating with a BS in General Health Sciences from Purdue University, I immediately came home and got my Associates in Nursing from William Rainey Harper College. I went to nursing school to work in pediatrics and began my dream job working at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago and soon after began my passion for hematology, oncology and stem cell transplant. I've spent 23 years growing my passion for this field with time spent in New York, Cincinnati, and Los Angeles but have called Children's Memorial Hospital/Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago home since 2007. Working in teaching hospitals expanded my passion to include education; I obtained my BSN and MS in Nursing Education from Northern Illinois University. I became a full-time clinical instructor for Loyola University Chicago while maintaining a part time position at the bedside. However, my love of bedside nursing prevailed after 3 years and I returned to full time work at Lurie and periodically teach a pediatric nursing clinical or foundations lab. In 2018, I sought the opportunity to use my nursing education degree again and became an APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Instructor. When I'm not working, I always have a trip to somewhere planned, usually while also planning the next one, spending time with my 2 Yorkie mixes, Finn and Reggie, and as much time with my 4 nieces and nephews as they'll allow me.
