Dr Ionela Iacobas completed medical school in Romania. She then came to the United States and graduated from pediatric residency at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York and pediatric hematology oncology fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr Iacobas developed a passion for vascular anomalies since fellowship and has been managing this very interesting and challenging cohort ever since. She has been the medical director of Texas Children's Hospital Vascular Anomalies Center since the beginning and has been involved in many national and international specialty organizations. Dr Iacobas is the current Vice-Chair of the Scientific Committee for ISSVA (International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies).
