Nurse Practitioner, Stem Cell Transplant (SCT); APP Educator Heme/Onc/SCT
Boston Children's Hospital
Brienne has been with Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) for nearly 20 years. She began her nursing career as a new graduate on the stem cell transplant (SCT) unit, where she quickly found her passion. Still, she couldn’t let go of a lifelong dream to become a pediatric ICU nurse. When the opportunity arose, she transferred to the pediatric medical-surgical ICU, where she spent over a decade as a bedside and charge nurse, caring for critically ill children across diagnoses—including many patients undergoing SCT or with a hematology/oncology diagnosis requiring intensive care.
During her time in the ICU, Brienne helped establish a collaborative care model between the ICU and SCT teams, which remains in place today. After becoming a nurse practitioner (NP), she joined the inaugural Cardiovascular and Critical Care NP Fellowship at BCH, training in the cardiac ICU, acute care, and ambulatory cardiology. This led to a role with the pulmonary hypertension team in cardiology.
In 2022, Brienne returned to her roots in SCT as an APRN. Since then, she has helped build a 24/7 advanced practice provider (APP) coverage model, launched and leads the Hematology/Oncology/SCT NP Fellowship, and now serves as APP educator across the heme/onc/SCT continuum—while still practicing clinically in SCT.
Outside of work, Brienne enjoys coaching figure skating and spending time with her husband and two children. As a family, they love being at the beach, boating, and skiing.
