Sherry is the Senior Program Manager for Quality and Patient Safety at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Sherry has worked in the specialty of pediatric Hematology/Oncology for 36 years holding various roles including PICU nurse, BMT/PICU educator, BMT/PICU manager, Director of Magnet/Quality for Patient Care Services and Director of Nursing Excellence. In this role, Sherry was the facilitator for the organization’s first Magnet designation, reengineered nursing shared decision making, developed nursing strategic plans, chaired the nursing Clinical Practice Council, and developed the nursing performance improvement program. Sherry is currently involved in monitoring, analyzing, and developing actions for patient safety related events and leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams through cause analysis and risk assessments. In addition, she has been project/program manager for quality improvement projects such as development and implementation of an outpatient nurse phone triage system, development and implementation of a sepsis recognition and treatment program, development and implementation of an early warning system and development and implementation of a behavioral response emergency team. Sherry has presented both nationally and locally and has co-authored several papers.
