As Vice President and Associate Chief Nurse, Nursing/Patient Care and Clinical Operations, Dr. Whiting leads enterprise level initiatives that allow for increased patient safety and quality, overseeing major programs across nursing and patient care operations. With over twenty years of nursing experience, Dr. Whiting blends a strong background of critical care nursing, emergency management, patient safety, quality and experience. He has been integral in the safety of patients, family and staff throughout the pandemic, leading safety, quality and education efforts. He works closely with the Office of Experience and is the Senior Leadership, Co-chair of Boston Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council.
He began his nursing career as a medical/surgical intensive care staff nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital followed by an appointment as nurse manager of the Medical Intensive Care Unit then the Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Biocontainment Unit and Life Support Programs before moving into his current role.
Dr. Whiting holds a Bachelor of Art and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, a Master’s of Science in Nursing Leadership and Healthcare Administration from Drexel University and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Simmons University. He is a member of several local and national nursing organizations and was the recipient of the 2021 Circle of Excellence Award given by the American Association of Critical Care Nurse
